The *Cumbria archive service holds the will of a Robert Barton of Dalston, dated 1588:

"In the name of god Amen in the year of our lord god 1588, The 20 of December[?] I Robert
Barton of the ??? of Dalston ??? in bodye but in ??????????????????????
glorye be unto god maketh this my last will & testament in manner & forme following
Inye[?]. I give & bequeath my soule into the hande of almightye god my maker trusting
assuredly[?] to be ???? in the way & passion of Jesus Christ my saviour, and my bodye
to be buryed in the churchyard of Dalston. Item[?] I give & bequeath to my Sone John
Barton, all my Coune[?] ..."
